Going back to the days when trading was done, people cultivated land and harvested their crop and traded it off with the items they would need. On the other side, people made handmade items like terracotta clay vessels, palm leaf toys and boxes, wooden kitchen accessories and toys. They would trade these items with those who harvested food.
Hence everything was quite simple and there was no rush for supply and demand. Once the demand increased, man power became inadequate and slowly machines came into picture. There is always this question: "Is technology boon or a bane?". So anything used within limitations is always a boon, once it becomes excess, then it turns out to be a bane. Here we are now where industries set up to reduce manual labor, have become the enemies of nature.
The good part is that, Mother Earth goes in a cycle. Fashion keeps changing, but if we keenly observe, we go back to a few years old fashion and trend it in the current era. While mixers, blenders and grinders have eased the work of humans, people tend to go back to the old soapstone mortars to get that rich taste.
This is exactly where I started my idea with...slowly getting into handmade products by harming the environment less. We have surrounded the nature with a lot of harmful elements and its impossible for us to stop everything in a day and co exist with nature. We can start by taking baby steps and carefully choosing our products and the way we use them.
